WOMEN IN EZEAGU COMMUNITY PROTEST AGAINST KILLINGS, WANT ENUGU STATE GOVERNMENT’S INTERVENTION

The Enugu State Government has taken adequate measures including putting relevant security on ground to prevent a repeat of the abduction and killing, which led to the death of the Parish Priest of Saint Mark’s Catholic Church, Obunofia Ndiuno in Ezeagu Local Government Area, Reverend Father Clement Ugwu.

The Chairman of the Local Government, Chief Fred Ezinwa, made this known while addressing married daughters of the area at both home and abroad, who carried out a peaceful prayer and protest round the community to ask God not to allow such calamity to repeat itself.

Chief Ezinwa thanked the women for their concern and promised that any culprit caught in connection with the act would be dealt with according to the law.

In a remark, the President General of Catholic Women Organization (CWO) Enugu Diocese described the late Reverend Father as a dedicated priest who used  his time,  talent and treasure to serve in the parish.

Another official of the organization, Adadioramma Chukwuka described the circumstances surrounding the death as painful.

Mrs. Ngozi Ene, who is also a member of the Organization and Mrs. Matilda Ozo Agu pleaded  with the State Government to ensure that its security agencies worked round the clock.

The Reverend Father Clement Ugwu was killed in a mysterious circumstance by unknown assassins in March, 2019.
