PDP GUBER PRIMARIES: IKPEAZU, UGWUANYI & UMAHI EMERGE CONSENSUS CANDIDATES

Governor Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia State has been adopted through indirect primary as the consensus candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the 2019 Governorship election in the State.

Announcing the result, the official in-charge of the primary, Chief Raymond Dokpesi, said that the Governor was adopted as the sole candidate of the party in the State and he polled a total of 1,991 (one thousand, nine hundred and ninety-one) votes during the exercise.

Chief Dokpesi commended the delegates for conducting themselves in an orderly manner during the primary.

In his acceptance speech, Governor Ikpeazu thanked the delegates and party members for their support to him and pledged to provide more democratic dividends to the people of the State.

In a related development, the Enugu State Governor, Chief Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi has emerged as the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)’s candidate for the next year’s gubernatorial election.
The Governor who was unopposed in the party’s primaries at Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium, Enugu expressed satisfaction with the conduct of the election.

He thanked the people for their support and assured them of more dividends of democracy.
The Chairman Gubernatorial Electoral Committee, Senator Ambuno Zik, who declared Chief Ugwuanyi the winner of the primary election, said the process was transparent and reflected the minds of the party delegates.
Some of the delegates, including the Deputy President of the Senate, Chief Ike Ekweremadu, Senator Chukwuka Utazi, and a House of Representatives Member, Mr. Pat Asadu, said the unanimous decision of the party delegates followed the unprecedented achievements of the governor in the State.

Also, the Senior Legislative Assistant to the Deputy President of the Senate, Chief Nnanna Nze, Local Government Council Chairman of Nkanu East, Mr. Ikechukwu Ubagwu, and the State House of Assembly member, Mr. Paul Nnajiofor, said Chief ifeanyi Ugwuanyi had set the pace for his counterparts to emulate.
The PDP primary election, which commenced with accreditation of delegates at Michael Okpara Square had over 2,800 (two thousand eight hundred) delegates from the 17 Local Government Areas of the State.
Similarly, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has declared Governor David Umahi its standard bearer in the 2019 Gubernatorial Election in Ebonyi State.
Governor Umahi emerged the candidate of the party following his victory at the party’s Governorship Primary Election conducted at Pa Ngele Oruta Township Stadium Abakaliki.
Declaring the result of the Election, the Chairman Electoral Panel, Senator Joy Emodi, explained that Governor Umahi was a sole aspirant of the position in the State and polled 1,988 (one thousand, nine hundred and eighty eight) votes to emerge the candidate.
She pointed out that a total of 1,990 (one thousand, nine hundred and ninety) delegates were accredited for the Election.
In his acceptance speech, Governor Umahi commended the party faithful for providing him with the ticket to vie for the position once again.
He announced that his Deputy, Dr. Kelechi Igwe, would be his running mate and called on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to conduct free and fair Election.
The State Party Chairman, Chief Onyekachi Nwaebonyi, said Governor Umahi had distinguished his administration in infrastructural development and expressed the support of the party to good governance in the State.
