NOA TASKS PARTY AGENTS ON UNDERSTANDING THEIR ROLES IN ELECTION

Agents of political parties in Imo State who will be working during the February 16 Presidential and National Assembly elections have been urged to familiarize themselves with the Independent national Electoral Commission (INEC) guidelines for the elections to avoid creating unnecessary tensions capable of disrupting the process.

The Deputy Director in charge of Operations, National Orientation Agency in the State, Mr. Innocent Iwuchukwu, gave the advice during voter education held at Orlu in Orlu Local Government Area.

Mr. Iwuchukwu attributed some of the crisis witnessed at polling units and collation centres to ignorance and overzealousness on the part of party agents.

He cautioned against selling of votes and improper casting of ballots to reduce incidents of void votes.

The Assistant Electoral Officer in Orlu Local Government Area,Mrs. Stella-Marris Njoku, assured the people of the readiness of the Commission to conduct credible elections in the area.

The event was attended by community leaders, women and youths drawn from various communities in the area.
