FOCUS ON TECHNICAL COURSES: ENUGU STATE ASSEMBLY CHARGES THE STATE COLLEGE OF EDUCATION TECHNICAL
The Enugu State House of Assembly Committee on Education, Science and Technology has charged the State College of Education Technical to demonstrate capacity in producing manpower that will drive technical and industrial road map in the area.
The Chairman of the Committee, Chief Erochukwu Ugwueze, gave the charge when he led members of the Committee on oversight visit to the College.
This followed observation that the College was focusing more attention on non-technical areas, which some stakeholders described as unacceptable as the College was established to train technicians in different fields with the aim of developing skilled manpower.
Chief Ugwueze said he believed in practical programmes that would make citizens of the State self-reliant.
He commended the College for improving on its infrastructure but noted that a lot had to be done in areas of providing infrastructural materials to actualize the vision of the government.
Other members of the Committee who sought clarification on some issues included Chief James Aladu, Chief Mathias Ekweremadu, Mr. JohnBull Nwagu and Chief Paul Nnajiofor.
They also urged the College to improve on in its services.
Addressing the Committee, the Provost of the College, Professor Ngozi Nnamani, attributed some of the issues raised to financial constraints and called for more funding of the institution.
