ANY POLITICAL APPOINTEE IDENTIFYING WITH SECRET CULTS IN EBONYI STATE TO BE SACKED
Ebonyi State Government says any political appointee found secretly or openly identifying with secret cults will be sacked and handed over to the National Security Adviser for prosecution
Governor David Umahi gave the warning during the swearing in ceremony of twenty three political appointees at Government House Abakaliki.
Governor Umahi who had to contend with the menace of secret cult groups in the State during his first term, explained that the warning was in keeping with his promise not to involve any suspected cultist in his administration.
He commended some Local Government Councils for spearheading the fight against cultism noting that with its positive outcome, his administration would be expecting to rid the State of secret cult groups by next month.
Governor Umahi charged the appointees to attend to their duties diligently as over ten thousand applications had been received from those seeking to be appointed as Senior Special Assistants, Special Assistants and Coordinators in the State.
Chief Umahi urged the office of the Senior Special Assistant on Infrastructure Maintenance to rid Abakaliki- Afikpo, Abakaliki-Enugu Highways and roads within the State capital of potholes.
The Head of Service, Dr Chamberlain Nwele commended the Governor for finding them worthy to serve and promised not to disappoint him.
The appointees were eight Senior Special Assistants, ten Special Assistants, one Personal Assistant, Deputy Chief of Staff, Deputy Principal Secretary and Head of Service. Of the twenty three persons, only one is a woman.
