ALL PROGRESSIVE CONGRESS ABIA STATE ADOPTS DIRECT PRIMARY CONGRESS FOR ITS ASPIRANTS
The All Progressive Congress, Abia State has adopted a direct primary congress for all its aspirants for the Governorship, National
and State House of Assembly positions in the party.
The decision was reached during the party’s meeting between the State Working Committee and all the aspirants of the party..
Addressing newsmen shortly after the meeting in Umuahia, the Chairman of the Party, Chief Donatus Nwankpa said the decision to adopt a direct primary for its congresses was to allow members of the party at the grassroots to choose candidates of their choice that would fly the party’s flag in 2019 general election.
He also said the purpose was to access the strength of the party in Its various localities and wards in the state.
Chief Nwankpa noted that the party had no preferred candidate for any position and assured all aspirants of a level playing ground during the congresses.
On the issue of charter of equity in power rotation, Chief Nwankpa
explained that the party was more interested in getting a reliable Candidate that would take Abia State to the next level.
