A FORMER FEDERAL LAWMAKER CALLS FOR DEMARCATION OF EBONYI-BENUE BOUNDARY

A Former member of House of Representatives in Ebonyi State, Chief Mathias Adum, has called on the Federal Government to open up abandoned Ebonyi-Igumale-Otukpo Benue Road to check incessant boundary clashes between the people of Ebonyi and Benue States living within the axis.

Chief Adum made the call while speaking to newsmen in Abakaliki on an alleged killing of 6 Ebonyi farmers at a boundary community in Mgbo, Ohaukwu Local Government Area of the state.

The former federal lawmaker explained that the construction of the road would enable security operatives to have access to the disputed boundary areas and respond quickly to attacks and other criminal activities.

“If this federal road to Ebonyi is opened up to Markudi, and to Otukpo, there will be patrol of security operatives. Right now, there is no access to that place; police cannot go there, the military cannot go there and there is no need of this crisis, here and there,”Adum stated.

Chief Adum commended the Benue State Government for interfacing with the Government of Ebonyi State over increasing cases of deadly attacks in the area and called on the National Boundary Commission to demarcate the disputed boundary line.
