15 APC, 3 PDP IMO ASSEMBLY MEMBERS DEFECT TO AA

Eighteen out of twenty seven members of the Imo state house of assembly have defected from the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to Action Alliance (AA).

Of the number, fifteen lawmakers were elected on the platform of APC while three were of the PDP.

The defected lawmakers were led by the speaker of the House, Chief Iheanacho Ihim, who represents Okigwe state constituency in the house.

At the resumed plenary on Thursday, Chief Ihim announced his decision to join seventeen other lawmakers who had written to inform the house of their decision to dump their parties.

The speaker attributed their defection to what they termed as injustice meted to them by the National leadership of the APC.

The Minority Leader of the House, Chief Ken Agbim, who represents Ahiazu mbaise constituency, also cited injustice and crisis from the PDP as reasons for defection.

The son in law to Governor Rochas Okorocha, Mr. Uche Nwosu, had recently defected to the Action Alliance to fly the flag of the party in next year’s gubernatorial election in Imo State.
