TRANSPORTATION FARES REMAIN LARGELY STABLE AS ENUGU RESIDENTS CELEBRATE EASTER

As Nigerians travel for Easter celebration, transport fares to most locations have remained the same within Enugu metropolis and even inter-city journeys.

At Holy Ghost Park Enugu, Messrs. Edwin Uche and Benjamin Chinedu claimed that transport fare from Enugu to Lagos was ₦4,500 while Enugu to Abuja was still ₦3,500.

Similarly, fares from Enugu to Onitsha by bus did not change as it was still ₦600 while that of Nnewi by Sienna Car remained ₦1,200.

However, at Peace Park, the fare from Enugu to Abakaliki was ₦600 against the normal fare of ₦500.

Two passengers, Miss Rita Anyaegbunam and a youth corps member, who didn’t give his name, however decried the cost of transportation, saying that the fares were higher this year when compared to that of last year.

Miss Chioma Umeh pointed out that the patronage was high as a result of the celebration.

Mean while, in continuation of Easter celebration, fun seekers in their large numbers have been visiting some recreational centres in Enugu Metropolis.

A visit at some fun centres in the metropolis showed that children and parents adorned in beautiful attires were seen in relax mood enjoying the facilities at the centres.

A cross section of children, who spoke with Radio Nigeria, expressed their happiness as such arenas offered them some entertainment and succor as a way of enjoying their short term school holidays.

Some parents, including Mr. Johnson Agbo and Mrs. Clementina Onyia, who accompanied their children, also said they derive joy moving around the city visiting loved ones and family members
