VVF TREATMENT IS FREE – DIRECTOR NATIONAL OBSTETRIC FISTULA CENTER, ABAKALIKI

The Director of the center, professor Sunday Adeoye, gave the advice when he received a group led by the founder of Relief Pitch, Mrs. Chinemerem Anyi in Abakaliki.

Professor Adeoye, who explained that VVF was a global health challenge called for measures that could stem the tide.

Speaking with Radio Nigeria, the founder of Relief Pitch, Mrs. Chinemerem Anyi who was at the center to celebrate her birthday with the VVF patients said her organization focused on assisting those with the ailment.

A VVF survivor from Ebonyi State, who shared her story, said a prolonged labour she suffered in the hands of a traditional birth attendant last year caused the ailment.

Another woman from Enugu State, who was still undergoing treatment at the center, said that an accident she suffered led to the illness.

More than ten patients from different areas are currently receiving treatment at the center.
