VALTE-FACE: AS TRIBUNAL RETURNS TO UMUAHIA
REPORTER: JOHN MADUAGWU
The 2023 Election Petitions Tribunal for Abia State has been relocated back to Umuahia from Abuja.
The tribunal sat last in Umuahia on April 26, this year before relocating to the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.
The Secretary of the Tribunal, Mr. Bello Hassan, confirmed the development in a telephone chat with Radio Nigeria.
Mr. Hassan said the relocation was with effect from Friday, adding that five new panels had also been set up to handle the petitions filed in the state.
Reacting to the development, the Chairman, Nigerian Bar Association, Umuahia Branch, Mr. Jasper Ejimofor, was happy that distance would no longer pose a challenge for litigants and their lawyers in handling their matters, especially when it would be time to present their witnesses.
