SPIRIT OF CHRISTMAS USHERED IN, IN ANAMBRA STATE
Christmas season is around the corner and the spirit has been ushered into Anambra State in a grand style by Governor Willie Obiano. In line with this, Governor Obiano performed the Christmas light ceremonies at Kenneth Dike Library, Awka and Upper Iweka Onitsha. The Governor who said that the event was unique as Christmas was a season of love, assured the people of adequate security in the State during the period.
The Governor while appreciating the security agents in the area for their zeal in fighting insecurity maintained that Government would leave no stone unturned in investing in the security sector. He also encouraged intending investors to come into the State without fear, adding that his administration would continue to provide a level playing ground for legitimate ventures to thrive.
The Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters, Chief Greg Obi who described the event as an annual ritual said that the inauguration was the beginning of Christmas activities in the State. In an interview, the Secretary to the State Government, Professor Solo Chukwulobelu and Chief of Staff to the Governor, Mr Primus Odili, believed that the security remained at the fore front of development in all spheres of human endeavour, adding that the present administration had constantly tried to put the festivity spirit in the people by encouraging such decorations.
The symbolic switch on at Upper Iweka Onitsha was performed by the House of Assembly Speaker, Mr Uchenna Okafor, while the Awka switch on was performed by Commissioner for Basic Education, Professor Kate Omenugha together with the Chief Press Secretary, Mr James Eze.
