Poultry Farmers In Abia State To Receive 30 Birds Each From State Govt.

Federal Government says it is committed to the training of Poultry farmers and empowering them on other value chains with a view towards making Agriculture the mainstay of the country’s economy. The Director Federal Department of Agricultural Extension Mrs Karima Babangida made this known in a message to a two day Farmers’ Education Program on Poultry Value Chain Training in Umuahia, Abia State.

Mrs Babangida represented by Assistant Director in the Federal Department of Agricultural Extension, Mr Jimoh Ibrahim noted that the training was important and apt as Federal Government was working hard towards taking agriculture to the next level. The Program Manager, Abia State Agricultural Development Programme, Chief Israel Amanze said that the State Government had concluded plans to collaborate with Central Bank of Nigeria and other relevant agencies for  training and empowerment of farmers in the State. He commended Federal Government for selecting the State as one of the pilot States in the South east zone for the training noting that the farmers would be empowered at the end of the program with thirty birds each and some Poultry products as starter pack.

The Director Extension Agricultural Development Program, Abia See, Pastor Kenneth Kanu pointed out that the training  would help boost  Poultry products in the State and urged the participants to take the exercise seriously.  Fifty Poultry farmers drawn from the seventeen Local Government Areas of the State are participating in the training.
