SOME VOTERS IN YESTERDAY’S BYE ELECTION IN UDI LOCAL GOVERNMENT AREA DEMAND FOR CANCELLATION OF THE RESULT

Some electorate in the Local Government Councillorship bye election for Eke and Obioma Wards in Udi Local Government Area have called for the cancellation of the result.

One of them and APC Chieftain in Eke Ward Two, Chief Ben Uzo described the election as a sham.

At Central School Eke Ward Two, the Voters insisted that ENSIEC officials should produce the Eform 8B, which was the collation sheet for declaration of result sheet.

The ENSIEC official who identified himself as Victor Ene assured the Voters and Party Agents that result sheet would be provided before the end of the election.

Before the election materials were dispatched to Polling Booths in the area, one of the Voters, Mr. Osita Okechukwu of the APC and Director General, of Voice of Nigeria who was allegedly assaulted by a member of PDP insisted that the election should not be rigged stressing that the people’s vote must count.

Our Correspondent reports that as PDP members rejoice over the announcement of the bye election by ENSIEC  Presiding officers in some Polling booths, APC  Chieftains, Chief Ben Uzo said the election was marred by irregularities.

One of the Presiding officers at Ole Oma Eke Polling Unit, Mr Osmond Mgbe declared PDP victorious in the area.

The PDP was equally declared winner of the bye election at all the Polling Units except that of Ogui Agu, Eke where APC Chieftain , Mr. Osita Okechukwu claimed the election in Central School Eke Ward Two was free but condemned the initial move by ENSIEC officials not to provide result sheets before the exercise which he said allegedly paved way for electoral fraud in some Polling Units.

Some members of PDP, Dr Luke Mgbo, who is the Special Adviser to the Senate President, a former Chairman of Udi Local Government, Chief Bona Ude, a former President General, Eke Town Union,

Mr Johnson Aniekwe, Mr Steve Igweeze and the PDP Chairman in Eke, Mr Remi Aniagba thanked God for the victory.

Earlier at Obioma Ward, some Voters at Polling Unit 001 and 002, Mr James Uzoegbu and Mr Emeka Alor expressed fear of irregularities in the voting system.
