NBC WARNS BROADCAST ORGANIZATIONS AGAINST ATTEMPT TO ANNOUNCE ANAMBRA ELECTION RESULT APART FROM THAT FROM INEC
The National Broadcasting Commission, NBC has warned broadcast organizations in Anambra state and beyond, to resist any pressure to announce election result outside that, declared by the Independent National Electoral Commission,INEC.
Addressing newsmen in Enugu, the Director, Broadcast Monitoring, NBC headquarters, Abuja, Dr. Armstrong Idachaba reminded broadcasters of their role to gate-keep and enhance the electoral process.
According to Dr. Idachaba, no broadcaster should pick any election result from the social media or newspaper projections.
He further warned against the broadcast of political activities, and jingles of any sort, twenty four hours before and after the election.
Responding to a question from a reporter, Dr. Idachaba explained that the Commission was properly equipped with manpower and resources to monitor all the political broadcasts from different stations and warned that it would not hesitate to sanction any organization found liable.
Earlier, the Zonal Director of the Commission, Mrs. Susan Obi said that the commission had taken time to educate and sensitize broadcasters in the state to approved conduct to ensure a hitch free election.
