RESCUED 13YEAR OLD BOY APPEALS FOR SCHOLARSHIP FROM EBONYI STATE GOVT

The thirteen year old boy, Master Daniel Nweze rescued from Imo State where he was sold for over three hundred thousand Naira has appealed to Ebonyi State Government to give him scholarship to further his education.

Master Daniel made the appeal while being handed over to his Uncle at the State Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development in AbakalikIi.

He completed primary four where he was kept in an Orphanage in Imo State following his rescue by the Police three years ago. It was gathered that he took first position in the last third term examination and emerged the overall best in character and learning in the orphanage.

Expressing his feelings over his reunion with his people, Master Daniel noted that while he was grateful to the Police and Government for his rescue, he would be more pleased if the State Government takes responsibility for his education.

The State Commissioner for Women Affairs, Mrs Rebeca Ogbuewu represented by her Special Assistant, Mr Steve Ali explained that the State Government would be interested in the upbringing of Master Daniel and urged his uncle to take good care of him.

The Head, Child Development Department in the Ministry, Mr Godwin Igwe called for stronger collaboration between the Ministry and security agencies to ensure that Daniels siblings and his mother were rescued. Daniel’s Uncle, Venerable Silas Nweze commended the State Government for ensuring that the boy was reunited with his people.

The Traditional Prime Minister of Umezoka Community, Chief Kenneth Ukwa and the Chairman Ezza North Local Government Area represented by the Head of Education Department, Mr James Eje witnessed the re-union.
