POLICE RECOVER STOLEN ASSAULT RIFLES ANAMBRA

REPORTER: KEVIN EKEDIEGWU

The Police Command in Anambra State has recovered two AK-47 rifles stolen from two police formations years back.

One of the rifles was stolen when Zone 13 Headquarters, Ukpo was attacked by unknown gunmen in 2021.

The second rifle was said to have been stolen from Area Command Headquarters, Ogidi early last year when the formation was also attacked by insurgents.

The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of the command, Mr. Tochukwu Ikenga, in a statement said painstaking intelligence gathering by undercover operatives led to the discovery of a location where the arms were hidden in Nnobi, Idemili South Local Government Area of the state.

The statement said the Commissioner of Police in the state, Mr. Aderemi Adeoye, who commended the operatives for their diligence, urged them not to relent until perpetrators of the attacks, which claimed police lives were brought to Justice.

It explained that the Police Commissioner assured the team that every logistic support they required would be provided until the objectives were achieved.
