IMO JAILBREAK: 7 INMATES ESCAPE, POLICEMAN KILLED AS POLICE BEGIN SEARCH

The Police command in Imo State has confirmed an attack on Correctional Service Farm Settlements, Umualomoke in Okigwe.

The attack resulted in the release of seven inmates, death of a Police Inspector and abduction of the officer in charge of the farm settlement.

The command also confirmed an attack on the country house of the senator representing Imo North Senatorial district, Senator Patrick Ndubeze.

According to a statement by the command’s spokesperson, Mr. Henry Okoye, the Commissioner of Police, Mr. Aboki Danjuma made the confirmation during an on-the-spot assessment of the ugly incidents.

The statement noted that Mr. Danjuma had ordered immediate deployment and equipping of the command’s tactical Squad to go all out in synergy with other sister security agencies and hunt down the hoodlums responsible for the attacks .

The statement also mandated the squad to intensify efforts in ensuring that the officer in charge of the farm settlement is rescued unhurt and the fleeing inmates arrested and made to face the full wrath of the law.

The statement noted that the Commissioner of Police appealed to the public, who may have any useful information that would assist the operatives in arresting the hoodlums to kindly report at the nearest Police Station or via 08034773600,

It said that the Police Commissioner encouraged residents of the state to go about their lawful business without any form of fear as the Command had placed adequate security measures to forestall future occurrence.
