POLICE PARADE 2 PASTORS, 61 OTHERS FOR VARIOUS CRIMES IN IMO
Imo State Police Command has appealed to faith based organizations to join the campaign against child trafficking and stealing to reduce the incidents of the crime in the society.
Commissioner of Police in charge of the Command, Mr. Chris Ezike, made the call in Owerri while parading 61 persons for their alleged roles in crimes ranging from child stealing, cultism, kidnapping, robbery and unlawful possession of fire arms.
Mr. Ezike expressed worry over the high level of moral decay experienced in the society noting that religious groups have a crucial role to play in reversing the trend.
The Police Commissioner, who paraded one acclaimed pastor for arms deal and another pastor for obtaining by false pretences called on the public to be wary of those who masquerade as men of God simply to defraud their members.
Mr. Ezike explained that more suspects had been arrested in connection with a notorious kidnap and robbery gang led by one Collins Okoronkwo alias “E Money” who was recently killed by the Police during a gun duel.
Some of the suspects, in an interview, spoke of their involvements in the crimes.
Items allegedly recovered from the suspects included AK 47 rifles, pump action guns, locally made pistols, live ammunition and a Prado jeep bearing a Police SPY number plate used by the deceased notorious kidnap suspect, “E Money.”
