OVER 1,500 SCHOOLS PARTICIPATE IN ANAMBRA GOVERNOR’S DEBATE

About 1,500 public, private and mission primary and secondary schools in Anambra State are taking part in this year’s Governor’s Debate in the area.

The State Commissioner for Basic Education, Professor Kate Omenugha, announced this while monitoring the preliminary stage of the debate for schools in Awka South at St. John of God Secondary School, Awka.

Professor Omenugha explained that one school would emerge from each of the six education zones of the state to compete in the grand finale of the debate.

She expressed happiness with the preparations of the championship, which according to her was aimed at developing the culture of dialogue among pupils and students.

Professor Omenugha maintained that the championship would expose the participants academically and mould them into better scholars.

The Zonal Education Officer, Awka Zone, Mrs. Ngozi Udoh, stressed that with the performance of the pupils and students, there was a future for education in the area.

She expressed the hope that the winners would represent the state in external debates.

The Project Coordinator of the Debate, Mr. Onyedikachi Eneh, noted that the participants were being groomed to deliver on the technical aspects of the debate.
