The National Orientation Agency (NOA) in Anambra State says it has embarked on statewide campaign on peace building and stabilization advocacy in the area.

This is to drive home the need for peaceful co-existence and peace process in conflict resolution.

The Director of the agency in Anambra State, Mr. Joseph Uchendu, who made this known in a briefing in Awka, explained that the initiative was aimed at using advocacy, persuasion, enlightenment to emphasize the primacy of Peace and usage of peaceful processes in resolution of all social conflicts with reference to the recently concluded general election.

The NOA boss in Anambra State pointed out that it was not unusual to see divisions in the outcome of such contest hence the need for the Peace Building and Stabilization.

Mr. Uchendu maintained that the agency, “among other mandates, is saddled with the responsibility of ensuring attitudinal change among Nigerians,” arguing that it would not fold its arms and watch the nation polarized beyond measure.

While reminding all segments of the society of the core values of National Motto which is, “Unity and Faith, Peace and Progress,” the NOA Director urged the people to be responsible citizens by obeying the laws of the land, noting that any social upheaval might result in anarchy and would affect development of the country.

Citing the ongoing war in Sudan, Mr. Uchendu urged the people to toe the line of peace in resolving their differences to prevent the country from experiencing what is happening in Sudan.

He, however, maintained that “justice is cardinal in every society” and the need to ensure inclusive governance where no part of the society was unattended to remained paramount.
