The National Youth Service Corps, NYSC, has charged serving Corps members to sustain the spirit of patriotism, hard work and resilience which they imbibed during their Orientation Course.

The Ebonyi State Coordinator of the Scheme, Mrs. Bamai Merci, gave the charge at the closing of the 2023 Batch A Stream 2 Orientation Course at the Permanent Orientation Camp, Old Macgregor College Afikpo.

She expressed the hope that the corps members would strive to meet the expectations of Nigerians by contributing towards the progress and development of the country.

The State Coordinator encouraged them to build on the skills acquired during the Skill Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development programme, emphasising that NYSC would continue to liaise with financial institutions and other stakeholders to provide them with start up loans.

“I have received impressive reports on your participation in the entrepreneurial trainings conducted in the camp.

“I encourage you to build on the skills acquired by availing yourself of opportunities for post camp training as this will go a long way in empowering you for self reliance.

“You should be good ambassadors of the NYSC as well as your families and institutions of graduation.

“Therefore, you must be wary of acts that portray the scheme in bad light,” She advised.

Mrs. Mercy appealed to corps employers to always accept corps members posted to them and make necessary provisions for their welfare.

Some of the corps members said they were impressed by the activities in the camp, noting that mixing up with youths from other tribes had helped them to experience Nigeria’s socio cultural diversity.
