NEW GOC PLEDGES IMPROVE SECURITY IN ANAMBRA

The Nigerian Army says it will not relent in fighting insecurity in the country.

The General Officer Commanding (GOC) 82 Division Enugu, Major General Taoreed Lagbaja, stated this when he led a team of officers to Governor Willie Obiano of Anambra State on a visit at Governor’s Lodge Onitsha.

The GOC, who disclosed that he resumed duty a week ago, noted that his visit was to familiarize himself with the Governor and to also access the situation in the area considering the security challenges the state had experienced in the past weeks.

He frowned at the attacks by some criminal elements on military deployment, expecally on the Onitsha, Orlu-Owerri corridor.

Major General Lagbaja noted that he would liaise with other commanders of in the state and fashion out ways to quickly address the security challenges in the state.

The GOC 82 Division Enugu thanked Governor Obiano for providing necessary assistance to the Nigerian Army and other formations in the state.

He however pleged the the loyalty of the Army to fight crime both in the state and country at large.

Responding, Governor Willie Obiano while welcoming the new GOC appreciated the military for its zeal to fight insecurity within and outside the state, stressing that his administration looked forward to working with the new GOC.

Radio Nigeria observed that some top government functionaries were present during the visit.
