MARKETS REMAIN CLOSED IN ABIA AS TRADERS HOPE FOR AN END TO COVID-19

Residents of Aba, the commercial hub of Abia State have continued to show strict compliance to the stay-at-home order against the Coronavirus pandemic.

Radio Nigeria correspondent, who went round some places in the city, reports that there were fewer vehicles on the road, especially those carrying foodstuff and other essential commodities approved by the government.

Meanwhile observation showed that all markets remained closed, including the popular Ariaria International Market. Only foodstuff markets, including Ariaria junction Market, Samek Market (also known as Black Kingdom Market) were open to customers.

Some traders, who do not deal in essential items, were seen at various positions discussing the scenario while praying that all would get better in the nearest future.

Radio Nigeria also observed that security personnel were at strategic positions, checking movement of vehicles across the Enyimba city.
