COVID-19: ENUGU STATE FIRE SERVICE DISINFECTS OVER 30 MARKETS AND PARKS

The Enugu State Fire Service says over ninety percent of public places, high traffic areas, parks and markets, designated for decontamination by the State Government has been covered.

The Agency also says it is available for anybody that would want their areas to be sanitized.

The Chief Fire Officer, Mr. Okwudili Ohaa, stated this during the decontamination of Orie Orba International Market, Obollo Park, and Wharf, all in Orba, Udenu Local Government Area.

Mr. Ohaa, who explained that the agency vigorously executed the directives of the Governor to disinfect public areas within Enugu metropolis and its environs against any harmful dieases, explained that more than thirty markets and parks have been decontaminated.

While appealing to the citizens to abide by the government stay-at-home order and maintaning high personal hygiene, Mr. Ohaa emphasied that the agency would continue the process beyond the fourteen day period until the virus was kicked out of the State.

The Chairman, Orie Orba International Market, Mr. Charles Ezeugwu, pledged that the leadership of the market would continue to adhere to basic preventive guidelines outlined by government to contain virus. Mr. Ezeugwu also commended the Enugu State Government for taking proactive preventive measures to protect the citizens from the disease.

Similarly, the Chairman, Udenu Local Government, Mr. Solomon Onah, described the fumigation as a welcome development in containing COVID-19 and other environment-based diseases. Mr. Onah said his council had already sensitised the people of the Council area to the need to comply with government directives to contain the ravaging virus.

The decontamination, which was officially inaugurated by Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, along heads of security agencies in the State on April 1, 2020, is aimed at ensuring safer environment.
