IMO STATE : STREET TO STREET SENSITIZATION OF RESIDENTS ON COVID-19 —NOA

The National Orientation Agency in Imo state has embarked on street to street sensitization of residents on ways of reducing the spread of covid-19 pandemic in the state.

Speaking to newsmen during the motorized enlightenment campaign in Owerri, the State Director of the Agency Mr. Vitus Ekeocha said with the second phase of easing lock down there was need to step up awareness on the burden of corona virus.

He hinted that the Agency would meet with religious organizations, market leaders and other relevant bodies to further emphasize the need for people to adhere to directives on use of face masks, physical distancing and improved hygiene.

Mr. Ekeocha regretted that despite the increase in number of covid-19 positive cases in the state many were yet to accept the realities of the disease.

He stated that the campaign would be extended to rural areas to ensure that people were sensitized to the measures adopted by the government and experts to flatten the curve of covid-19 infection in the state.

Our Correspondent reports that officials of the NOA were seen sharing fliers which contained safety health practices while sensitizing the populace with public address system in both English and Igbo languages on ways of mitigating the spread of the virus.
