IMO STATE: GOV UZODINMA SETS PANEL OF INQUIRY ON COLLAPSED EIGHT STOREY BUILDING

Imo State Governor, Chief Hope Uzodimma has set up a panel of inquiry into the circumstances that led to the collapse of an eight storey building under construction in Owerri.

At the inauguration, which held in Government House Owerri, the Governor noted that many lives had been lost to incidents of collapsed buildings in the state.

Governor Uzodimma urged the seven member panel to determine the causes of collapse of structures in the state and advise government on ways of averting future occurrence.

Other terms of reference for the commission included ascertaining if approval was given for the building and to recommend adequate punishment for those responsible for the incident.
                     
The Chairman of the panel, Mr. Jude Obidiegwu, architect by training, thanked the Governor for finding them worthy to serve and promised to bring their experience to bear in carrying out the assignment.

Recall that four persons lost their lives in the building collapse which occurred in April this year.
