HORROR IN ANAMBRA AS MAN KILLS SELF & 4 CHILDREN
A middle aged man has allegedly killed four of his children and their house help at number 19 Ntueke Street, Awada, Onitsha Anambra state.The man, Mr. Stephen, who was said to be mentally imbalanced, used matchete to butcher his children while his wife was away to the market.
Radio Nigeria gathered that the man who later died after taking a substance also left a suicide note behind.
During a visit by our correspondent, sympathizers, neighbours and co-tenants gathered and were discussing the bizarre incident that occurred at about 7:30 on Saturday evening.
An eye witness and relative of the man, chiamaka Osuji, told Radio Nigeria they were watching television when she w
as asked to go and buy sachet water and emtrin drug.
She narrated that when she returned, the incident had already occurred and she then ran to call her aunty who was at her shop.
“When I came back with what he asked me to buy, I knocked at the gate, no body to open the door and nobody to respond. So I went to the back to call them; that was when neighbours told me what has happened so I ran to call my aunty.”
The victims, including Chinemerem, chimaobi, chidiogo and mmesoma Nnodiugo, as well as the wife’s sister, ogechukwu ukaonu, who was 18 years old.
Another witness and chairman of the compound, who simply gave his name as Mr. Ibeabuchi, said the late Edwin w
ho was a brother to the landlord never associated with anyo
ne in the five storey building. “He is not a member of the yard, we asked him
to come and register so that if anything is happening we will know but he said no. “
Meanwhile Police in Anambra State have commenced investigation in the matter after senior officials of the command visited the scene of the incident.
