REPORTER: AMECHI ODO
Suspected hoodlums have shot dead a police operative while two others sustained bullet wounds in Abakaliki, Ebonyi State.
A statement by the Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Mrs. Onome Onovwakpoyeya, explained that the police operatives were on a stop and search duty at Union Bank Roundabout Abakaliki in the evening when the hoodlums engaged them in a shoot out.
She stated that the mission of the hoodlums was unknown, especially as the area was where banks were concentrated, noting that the injured police operatives were receiving treatment in the hospital.
According to the statement, the Command appeals to members of the public to report anyone seen with bullet wound, claiming that the suspected hoodlums also recorded some casualties but were taken away.
