FG DISTRIBUTES RELIEF MATERIALS TO FLOOD VICTIMS IN ABIA

Over seven thousand victims of the 2022 flood disaster in Abia State are to receive the Presidential palliatives distributed by the Federal Ministry of Niger Delta Affairs in collaboration with the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) in Umuahia.

In a message to the occasion, the Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Mr. Okon Umana Okon, represented by a Director in the Ministry, Mr. Azeez Oyeniyi, said the Federal Government under the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari had continued to show a fatherly love to the victims of flood disaster in the Niger Delta region.

He urged the affected communities to make proper use of the materials provided for them as it would help to cushion the effect of the disaster.

Also, the Minister for State Ministry of Science and Technology, Chief Henry Ikoh, represented by the Commissioner for Niger Delta Development Commission Abia State, Mr. Dimgba Eruba, commended President Muhammadu Buhari for approving the distribution of relief materials to victims of the flood disaster in the Niger Delta region.

In a remark, NEMA Head of Operations for Abia and Imo States, Mr. Ifeanyi Nnaji, said the relief materials would go along way in amelorating the plights of the flood victims in the affected areas.

While receiving the items, the Director, Abia State Emergency Management Agency SEMA, Mr. Sunday Jackson, thanked the Federal Government for the gesture and listed the six local government areas of the state where the beneficiaries would come from.

They are Ukwa East, Ugwunagbo, Ikwuano, Umuahia South, Umunneochi and Obingwa Local Government Areas.

The relief materials distributed included mattresses, pillows, blankets, cooking utensils, bags of rice and beans, as well as cartoons of noodles and granding machines.

Others were sewing machines, hair clippers and roofing sheets.
