GOVERNMENT AT ALL LEVELS CALLED TO INCREASE THE WELFARE PACKAGE OF WORKERS IN THE COUNTRY.

Work resumed yesterday in earnest in Enugu State after the two-day public holiday declared by the Federal Government for the celebration of Ed-el-Kabir.

When Radio Nigeria visited the State Secretariat, many of the offices were open and the staff reported to work in their numbers.

In an interview, one of them in the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Mr. Martins Ezeugwu said workers were fully prepared to carry out their assignments.

In another interview, the Planning Research and Statistic Officer, Economic Planning Commission, Mrs. Victoria Ishiwu, appealed to government at all levels to increase the welfare package of the workers in the country.

The State Head of Service, Mr. Chidi Ezema, who acknowledged prompt resumption of work, urged the workers to put in their best for the benefit of every one.

Radio Nigeria Correspondent reports that Mr. Ezema commended the government for prompt payment of salaries in the area.
