NEWLY ELECTED COUNCIL CHAIRMEN IN IMO STATE TOLD TO IMPACT POSITIVELY ON LIVES OF THE PEOPLE

Imo State Governor, Owelle Rochas Okorocha has charged the newly elected Local Government Council Chairmen to develop policies that would change the lives of common people in their areas positively.

Governor Okorocha gave the charge at swearing in of the twenty-seven Council Chairmen and the Vice Chairmen at the Sam Mbakwe Exco Chambers Owerri

Also performing the ceremony at Government House Owerri, Governor Okorocha urged the newly elected chairmen not to neglect the down trodden in their localities and rule with fear of God as guiding principles.

Governor Okorocha who sued for peace and togetherness in their various Local Government Areas appealed to them to shun corruption and justify the usage of public funds.

He said that the new councillorship arrangement which emanated from the communities would strengthen community development.

The Governor urged them to help in renovating their Local Government Headquarters, Police Stations, Magistrate and Customary Courts in their areas.

Meanwhile, Governor Okorocha before the swearing- in, dissolved the Transition Chairmen and directed them to hand over all relevant documents in their possession.

The Deputy Chief of Staff Operations Mr. Kingsley Uju advised them not to disappoint the present administration in Imo state.

Speaking on behalf of other Council Chairmen, Mr. Augustine Mbagwu from Nkwere Local Government Area, promised to deliver dividends of democracy in their councils.

The ceremony attracted many government functionaries, friends and well-wishers.
