OVER ONE HUNDRED TRAFFIC OFFENDERS ARRESTED IN ANAMBRA STATE

The Federal Road Safety Corps in Anambra State says it recorded five deaths and six injuries in five road accidents during the Salah celebration in the state.

The Sector Commander of the Corps in the State, Mr. Sunday Ajayi made this known in an interview with Radio Nigeria in Awka.

Mr. Ajayi said that due to increase in traffic, the Corps intensified its enforcement activities which resulted in the arrest of one hundred and forty-one traffic offenders.

He explained that, out of this number, eighty-eight offenders were successfully prosecuted while others were discharged.

According to the Sector Commander, the offences range from failure to install speed limiters to driving without license.

What we want to say is that considering the number of offenders we have accosted on the road,  is a bit worrisome that people seems not to know the dangers they face when they find themselves on the highways. And we want to emphasize here, inspite of enforcement people should on their own work for their safety.

Our Correspondent reports that Mr. Ajayi also advised motorists to ensure that they observe traffic signs and regulations to ensure safety on roads.
