GOV UZODIMMA BEGS IMO RESIDENTS TO TAKE PART IN 2023 CENSUS IMO

Imo State Government has urged its citizens to make themselves available for the 2023 census as it will help the state in policy making and economic planning.

Governor Hope Uzodimma made the call while declaring open stakeholders summit on 2023 Population and Housing Census in Owerri.

The Governor noted that the data got would serve as a useful guide in the distribution of social amenities and infrastructural projects in the state.

Governor Uzodimma thanked President Muhammadu Buhari for coming up with the program that would help formulate good policies for good governance.

He noted that the failure to participate in the exercise would impact negatively to the state because the Federal Government would use the figure to derive revenue allocation and social needs of the people.

The Governor assured the National Population Commission of his support during the exercise but appealed to them to ensure integrity and proficiency of technology deployed.

Earlier in a welcome address, the Federal Commissioner National Population Commission Imo State, Professor Uba Nnabue, explained that the objective of the meeting was to create public awareness and promote robust conversation with the people.

Professor Nnabue said the commission remained committed to the conduct of credible and acceptable census that would meet international standards.
