REPORTER: LAWRENCE NWOKEDI

Governor Alex Otti of Abia State has called on National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members to see their call to national service as a call to duty, dedication, perseverance and humility.

Governor Otti made the call in a message to the swearing-in of 2024 batch A stream 1 corps members deployed to serve in the state held at the permanent NYSC Orientation camp in Umunna, Bende local government area

The Governor, represented by the Permanent Secretary Ministry of Youth Development and Sports, Chief Cyril Nwaigwe, urged the Corps members to always ensure that they approached every task during their service year with deligence and meticulousness.

He commended the management of the NYSC for reviving the NYSC National Honours award as a means of acknowledging excellence in services among Corps members.

The Governor while welcoming the corps members to the state assured them that the hospitality which the state is known for would be extended to them during their stay.

Earlier in a remark, the state Coordinator NYSC, Mrs. Dick Ufuoma, noted that the NYSC Orientation programme was designed to induct corps members into one year national service and equip them physically and mentally with relevant skills and knowledge that would enable them to face the challenges of the service year.

Highpoint of the programme was the administering of oath of allegiance to the prospective corps members by Justice Chido Nwakama

1,293 Corps members are participating in the Orientation course.
