GOV OBIANO PLEDGES CONSTRUCTION AND MAINTENANCE OF MORE ROADS

The Anambra State Government says it will embark on construction of more road infrastructure in the area.

Governor Willie Obiano, who announced this during the inspection of some road projects in the area, observed that the roads were key to the development of the state.

Governor Obiano said that his government would complete road projects already started in the state, and equally embark on massive maintenance of some roads in the state.

The Governor, Who expressed satisfaction with the pace of work on some of the sites inspected promised to continue to financially support the contractor handling the projects to ensure they delivered on schedule.

He called on the contractors to work according to specifications, expressing the hope that the roads when completed would help farmers sell their produce.

The Commissioner for Works, Mr. Marcel Ifejiofor, said more than twenty roads had been done in Onitsha and environs.

The contractor handling about ten street roads in Fegge, Onitsha stretching up to three-point-eight kilometres, Brigadier General Nash Yakubu assured the Governor and the communities of the speedy completion of the projects, with a promise to adhere to the specification and terms of the contract.

Also the engineer handling about four-point-eight kilometre airport road, Mr. Johnny Nasa, promised
to deliver the work within the stipulated time of ten months with the support of the government.

The contractors further pledged not to compromise quality, including culverts and drains to ensure that the roads were solid when completed.

Some of the road projects inspected were five-point-three kilometre Eziowelle—Umunnachi—Aforigwe Road; four-point-nine kilometre Ezinnaja—Oraukwu—Nimo road; and the Stamford Road Awka.
