FRSC AT 30: BLAMES MOST ACCIDENTS ON HUMAN ERROR
The Corps Marshal of the Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC), Mr. Boboye Oyeyemi, says the Agency has transformed in leaps and bounds since its establishment 30 years ago.
In a message to a church service in Amawbia, Awka South Local Government Area of Anambra State, Mr. Oyeyemi expressed delight that the level of success in reduction of road accidents was encouraging.
He said there had been sanity and a new culture by Nigerians.
Mr. Oyeyemi noted that the achievement so far was a collective one and urged Nigerians to disabuse their minds that road mishaps were accidents.
According to the Corps Marshal of the FRSC, whose address was read by the Corps Commander FRSC in Anambra State, Mr. Sunday Ajayi, most accidents were as a result of fatigue, drunkenness and over speeding.
In an interview, Mr. Ajayi, expressed satisfaction that the objective of establishing the agency had been actualized, noting that before then, road accident was high in the country.
Mr. Ajayi maintained that the coordinated approach to tackling road accidents across the country had reduced the carnage and at the same time brought the country in the same page with world safety practice.
