ENUGU STATE GOVT. DOLES OUT 19M TO WIDOWS OF FALLEN HEROES

The Enugu State Government has issued a cheque of ₦19, 000,600, to the widows of the fallen heroes of the 82 Division, Nigerian Army.

The State Governor Chief Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi made the donation in a message to the 2017 West African Social Activities (WASA) held at the Division’s Parade Ground, Abakpa Nike Cantonment, Enugu.

The West African Social Activities, WASA, is a social gathering of officers and men of the Nigerian Army aimed at promoting team spirit and showcasing the rich, diverse cultural heritage of Nigeria.

It is also a moment of social interaction with family members, friends and members of the civil populace.

Addressing the crowd made up of the young and middle aged, dressed in their diverse beautiful native attires who came to witness the 2017, WASA, the Enugu State Governor represented by the Special Adviser on Security, Brigadier-General Fred Eze retired, said the donation was for 98 widows of the Division, each entitled to ₦200,000.

While commending the officers and men of 82 Division, Nigerian Arm for their commitment to the security of lives and property, Governor Ugwuanyi said the government would not relent in supporting them in their work.

The General Officer Commanding 82 Division, Major General Adamu Abubakar, recalled the successes recorded by the Division in 2017 and attributed them to support from the Chief of Army Staff and the Enugu State Governor.

Major-General Abubakar assured the widows of the fallen heroes of the Division of continued concern for the welfare of their families.

Two beneficiaries of the cash donation, Mrs. Sarah Ugwuabonyi and Mrs. Victoria Ogbe, thanked the State Government and the Nigerian Army for showing love to them.

The event featured cultural display by various tribes of the barrack community and presentation of the charred statue of Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuany.
