FIRE OUTBREAK KILLS THREE SUSPECTED SEX WORKERS IN NNEWI

Another fire incident broke out in Nnewi , Anambra State on Friday killing three girls alleged to be sex workers in a brothel.

The incident occurred at about three o’clock Friday morning at Ezekwuaba Otolo, close to St. Thomas Anglican Church Nnewi.

Eye witness account said the the lady, who owned the brothel Mrs. Ekpereamaka Okonkwor, locked the apartment where the girls slept and went home with the keys.

They alleged that Mrs. Okoronkwor always locked the door before going home even if the girls did not go out with anyone at night.

The fire broke out inside the brothel and burnt the three girls who could not find any exit way.

Confirming the report through a police Media WhatsApp group, the Commissioner of Police in Anambra State, Mr. John Abang, described the incident as unfortunate but said the three victims who lost their lives were waiters in a Restaurant and bar joint and not prostitutes as alleged.

He said investigation was in progress to ascertain the cause of the fire incident as the identity of the deceased had been unraveled while the bar owner had also been apprehended for further interrogation.

Meanwhile, the corpses had been deposited in Nnewi Diocesan Hospital morgue after they were confirmed dead.
