FG INAUGURATES WATER PROJECT IN IMO COMMUNITY, CALLS FOR OWNERSHIP

The Federal Government has appealed to the people of Umueze One in Ehime Mbano Local Government Area of Imo State to protect the water project provided for them as their personal property.

The Minister of Water Resources, Mr. Suleiman Adamu, made the appeal at the inauguration of Ezeala Akpaka Water Supply project in Ehime Mbano LGA of the state.

Mr. Suleiman urged the community to guard the project against vandals, noting that it cost the Federal Government a huge amount of money to complete it.

He announced that the Federal Government had developed plans to revisit Inisi dam, stressing that Imo State is the first state to benefit from sustainable Urban Rural Sanitation, which is a world bank assisted project.

The Imo State Governor, Senator Hope Uzodimma, expressed gratitude to the Federal Government for numerous project in the state and appealed to the presidency to extend the water project from fifty to two hundred house holds as initially planned.

Earlier in an address, Imo State Commissioner for Power, Mrs. Ann Dozie, said the project would go a long way to put to an end the sufferings of getting potable water.

One of the traditional rulers in the area, Eze Oliver Ohanwe, said they would protect the project as the chief security of the community and appealed to Federal Government to improve more on power and youths development in the rural areas.
