AHEAD OF MAY 29 INAUGURATION, POLICE BAN PROTEST IN EBONYI

Police in Ebonyi State have banned all forms of protest by aggrieved parties or supporters of any political candidate during and after the inuaugration of new government on May 29, 2023.

A statement by the Police Public Relations Officer in the State, Mrs. Onome Onovwakpoyeya, explained that the order followed an intelligence report that some persons were planning to stage protest that might cause breach of the peace.

It quoted the Commissioner of Police in the State, Mr. Olaleye Faleye, as advising aggrieved persons to have confidence in the court and wait for the verdict of the tribunals on election matters.

According to the statement, the Command warned that it will not hesitate to deal decisively with any person who violates the order or deliberately causes a breakdown of the law in whatever guise.

It further emphasised that security operatives had been deployed strategically and had been directed to enforce the order.
