FATE OF 4 MONTHS TRIPLETS AND MOTHER IN ENUGU HANGS IN THE BALANCE

The fate of four months old triplets and their mother, a sixteen year old school girl in Enugu hangs in the balance as the family is unable to provide for them.
The mother of the triplets from Enugu-Ezike, a minor, got involved with a young man who disappeared on learning that she was pregnant.
She is sixteen years old and a student of Urban Girls’ Secondary School, Enugu. The girl was living with an aunt around Nkpokiti area, to be nearer to her school and save her parents the transport fare she would have paid from the remotest part of Ugbo Ezeji in Abakpa Nike, Enugu.
She said her dream was to be a nurse, but due to peer pressure, she befriended the boy who she believes to be about twenty years of age, a bag seller in front of Ogbete market, Enugu.
Although, the babies were safely delivered on the sixth of February, 2018 at the ESUTH Teaching Hospital, Park Lane, Enugu, the little ones are already experiencing hard times.
If the girl had just a baby, perhaps her Parents could have managed to care for it alongside their seven children of whom the youngest is just a year and eight months.
But the Parents of the underage mother had no serious means of income. Her mother, Mrs. Chibuzo Ali told Radio Nigeria that while she sells vegetables at Abakpa Market, her husband, Mr. Odo Ali hustles for daily wages at the Timber Market in the area.
According to her, her daughter was delivered of the babies through cesarean operation and was billed one hundred and eighty thousand naira out of which the family managed to pay eighty thousand naira.
The Public Relations Officer, Enugu State University Teaching Hospital, Park Lane, Mr. John Nwatu corroborates the story.
The girl who seems well behaved and younger than her age may have made a mistake by experimenting with sex too early for her age, but her triplets cannot take any blame on her actions.
Lack of adequate care for them could just seem like punishing them, an offence they did not commit.
