ENUGU ASSEMBLY WANTS IMT UPGRADED TO A DEGREE AWARDING INSTITUION
The Enugu State House of Assembly Committee on Education, Science and Technology has called for the acceleration of a process that would facilitate commencement of a degree programme at the Institute of Management and Technology (IMT), Enugu.
The Chairman of the Committee, Chief ErochukwuUgwueze, made the call when he led members of the Committee on an oversight visit to the school.
The Committee expressed satisfaction with the management of the institution on the on-going renovation work which they described as a step in the right direction.
The Chairman of the Committee, Chief Ugwueze charged them to do all the needful in actualizing the state government’s dream in upgrading the Polytechnic to a degree awarding institute.
He condemned the attitude of some contractors that have abandoned TETFUND projects in the area which he said was jeopardizing structural development in the institution.
Chief Ugwueze promised that all available government machinery would be applied to get them back to site.
The Rector of IMT, Professor Augustine Nweze assured the committee that the institution would commence degree programmes before the end of this year.
Professor Nweze explained that the management of the school was working hard to upgrade infrastructure of the school and activating its TETFUND activities with the authorities.
He commended the committee for their quick intervention in all issues affecting the school.
