ENDSARS PROTEST: GOV OBIANO PROMISES TO SACK HIS SSA ON SECURITY-EX OC-SARS

Anambra State government is to release all Endsars protesters and those unlawfully detained by the police.

Governor Willie Obiano made this known while addressing #ENDSARS protesters at the Government House, Awka.

Some of the demands of the Anambra youth endsars protest are immediate sack and prosecution of Governor Obiano’s SSA on security, James Nwafor, who was a former OC SARS Awkuzu; immediate release of all protesters and those under unlawful detention in SARS, anti cult, SPAC, and other police officers.

Other demands were compensation for families of SARS victims,
Setting up a commission of inquiry that would receive reports from victims’ families and no search of phone and electronic gadgets, as well as end police extortion and check points.

Governor Obiano assured the protesters that all illegal detainees in various SARS formations in the state would be released, while officers found wanting would be prosecuted.

The Governor promised to set a panel of inquiry that would look into other demands of the protesters, including compensation of families of SARS victims, investigation of SARS operations in the past, end of police brutality among others.

Governor Obiano, who pledged to convey the grievances of the youth to the presidency, said he would see to prosecution of the accused officers, adding that the former OC SARS in Awkuzu, Mr. James Nwafor would be relieved of his political appointment.

The Governor however, thanked them for the manner that they conducted themselves during the protests, noting that some of their agitations had been met.

Some of the protesters, who spoke during the protest commended the Governor, saying that they would be on the lookout for fulfillment of their demands.

Among the protesters were celebrities like Zubby Michael, Slow Dogg, Bob Manuel Udokwu, who were all clad in ENDSARS hashtag.
