EBONYI STATE GOVT APPROVES PAYMENTS OF GRATUITY, PENSION, VERSITIES SUBVENTION, EXIST PACK FOR WORKERS

Ebonyi State government has approved one billion Naira as part payment of gratuities due retired civil servants since inception of the state.

This was one of the decisions taken at this week’s State Executive Council meeting at Government House Abakaliki.

Briefing journalists after the meeting, the Commissioner for Information in the State, Chief Uchenna Orji, explained that the decision followed a report on total outstanding gratuities which stood at 4.2 billion Naira.

He noted that the Council also approved over N485,000,000.00 for the payment of arrears of pension to retired civil servants, covering those who retired during previous administrations and the present one.

Chief Orji explained that the state government also approved N500,000,000.00 for the payment of gratuities to Local Government retirees, emphasizing that Local Governments were not owing pensions.

He noted that the balance of the gratuities would be carried over to the next administration and also announced the approval of N300,000,000.00 as subvention to Ebonyi State University as well as the release of N200,000,000.00 to David Umahi Federal University Teaching Hospital and David Umahi Federal University of Health Sciences all in Uburu.

According to the Commissioner, the State government also approved the payment of N15,000.00 as exit package to each of the state civil servants and N10,000.00 to each local government employee.
