SURPRISE AS EBONYI ELECTION PETITIONS TRIBUNAL RELOCATES TO ABUJA

REPORTER: AMECHI ODO

The Ebonyi State Governorship, National and State Houses of Assembly Election Petition Tribunal sitting in Abakaliki has shut down its operations and relocated to Abuja.

The Secretary of the Tribunal, Dr. Henry Nyior, stated this while briefing journalists at the Tribunal’s Secretariat located at the State High Court Abakaliki.

He noted that the relocation followed a directive by the President Court of Appeal, Justice Monica Dongbam Mensem, issued through the Deputy Chief Registrar Election Petitions Tribunal, Abuja.

Dr. Nyior explained that the Tribunal would resume its sitting in Abuja in continuation of filings processes and taking proceedings.

Asked why Justice Mensem gave the directive, the Tribunal Secretary said he was limited to providing the reason but pointed out that it was not peculiar to Ebonyi State.
