EBONYI STATE GOVERNMENT TO RECRUIT OVER ONE THOUSAND STAFF TO SCHOOLS

Ebonyi State government plans to recruit over one thousand four hundred tutorial and non tutorial staff to fill vacant positions in the Primary and Secondary schools in the state.

The Senior Special Adviser to Governor David Umahi on Religious and Welfare Matters, the Reverend Father Abraham Nwali stated this while briefing newsmen on the outcome of this week’s State Executive Council Meeting at Government House Abakaliki.

Reverend Father Nwali who is the Chairman, State government ‘s committee on verification of tutorial and non-tutorial staff of the state Basic and Secondary Education Boards noted that the vacancies were created by workers who had retired, resigned or were dead.

He explained that five hundred and seventy one vacant positions were discovered in the secondary Education Board while Universal Basic Education Board had nine hundred and fifty three vacant positions.

The Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Hyginus Nwokwu, told newsmen that the State government had sacked a Senior Special Assistant to the Governor, Mrs. Stephanie Ugochima for absconding from her duties.

Also briefing newsmen, the State Commissioner for Commerce and Industry, Mrs. Ugo Nnachi explained that the State Executive Council had approved increase in the number of civil servants benefiting from government’s agro loan from five to ten thousand.

The Special Assistant to the Governor on Environment, Mr. Philip Eworo said the council also at the meeting gave a nod to a United Kingdom based company to undertake the installation of Ebonyi State owned waste recycling plant and put it into operation.
