COVID-19: YOWICAN CAUTIONS AGAINST INFLUX OF UNKNOWN PEOPLE FROM NORTH TO SOUTH EAST

The leadership of the Youth Wing of the Christian Association of Nigeria, YOWICAN, South East has raised alarm over the influx of unauthorized persons into South-east. This was made known in a statement by the South East Chairman of the Association, the Rev. Onuigwe Oluchukwu, in Enugu. Rev. Oluchukwu condemned the act and described the action as unacceptable.

The YOWICAN Chairman alleged that security agencies on the high ways were taking bribes from motorist and allowing passage into South East, contrary to the Federal Government directive on ban on inter-state movement. President Muhammadu Buhari had recently imposed a restriction on inter-state movement to contain the spread of coronavirus. The order had also coincided with the relocation of almajirai by several Northern states.

The YOWICAN Chairman encouraged governors of the south east region to boost security at their boundaries to prevent entry by unauthorised persons.

The Clergyman also called on various commands of the security agencies to boost their monitoring machinery to ensure that they achieved the objective of stopping the spread of the virus.
