ANAMBRA STATE TIGHTENS COVID-19 CONTAINMENT MEASURES, CLOSES FOOD AND DRUG MARKETS

The Anambra State Government says the COVID-19 index case is being quarantined alongside his family and driver.

The State Commissioner for Information, Mr. C-Don Adinuba, who made this known in an interview with Radio Nigeria in Awka, said the COVID-19 index case was in a stable condition in one of the World Health Standard Protective Centers built by the State Government.

According to Mr. Adinuba, the state is still tracing other members of the public that may have come in contact with the index case within the two weeks he came into Anambra State.

Speaking on the renewed two weeks lockdown announced by the Governor, Mr. Adinuba said there were no more exceptions this time as both food markets and pharmaceuticals were all expected to shut down. He however appealed to the people to understand and bear the situation as the new order was borne out of the present circumstance on ground.

The Commissioner for Information and Public Enlightenment explained that those on essential duties, including the media were exempted from the lockdown.

Describing Easter celebration as the most important feast in the Christian Calendar, Mr. Adinuba thanked the religious bodies in the area for complying with the two weeks stay at home and social distancing directive.
