COME OUT AND CAST YOUR VOTE, MBAZULIKE AMECHI CHARGES NIGERIANS

As the nation counts down to the rescheduled 2019 General Election, one of Nigeria’s surviving nationalists and First Republic Aviation Minister, Chief Mbazulike Amechi, has called on all Nigerians of voting age not to be disappointed by the rescheduled election, but to come out enmass to cast their votes for preferred candidates of their choice.

Chief Amechi made this appeal while addressing journalists at his hometown, Ukpor in Nnewi South Local Government Area of Anambra State.

He alleged that the current turn of events in the nation’s political space, characterized by so much bitterness, portended grave danger for the country.

He said “as the last surviving nationalist, freedom fighter and minister of the first Republic still alive, I feel compelled to say something and warn those who may be plotting to plunge the country into a major political crisis that can threaten the very foundation of our country”.

The 90 year old activist and statesman beckoned on current political office holders in the southeast to support OHANEZE NDI-IGBO led by Chief Nnia Nwodo in it’s effort to bring the people of IGBO extraction to speak with one voice on matters that concern the leadership of the country, especially as it affected the place of Ndi-igbo in Nigerian political system.

Chief Amechi re-iterated his firm belief that the position adopted by Ohaneze, if supported by the electorate, would return fraternal love and unity to a democratic Nigeria.

He explained that as an elder statesman and igbo leader, he was duely consulted before Mr. Peter Obi was selected as the Vice presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), and appealed to other sons and daughters of Igbo land to rally support for the Atiku-Obi Presidential ticket.
